Algoriddim has just announced the release of its flagship djay Pro software for the iPhone. The app – which is already available for iPad and macOS – is the first DJ app to use the iPhone 7’s haptic feedback and 3D touch capabilities. It will sit alongside Algoriddim’s 20-million selling djay 2 platform on iPhone, as it does on iPad.
“djay Pro provides unique haptic feedback on its high definition waveforms so users can literally feel the beats while scratching and scrubbing the music,” says the company, “and with 3D Touch users can precisely set a cue point without having to lift up their finger while interacting with the waveforms.”

djay pro gives users direct access to Spotify, and on the iPhone offers “extensive integration with Spotify’s Browse section so DJs can mix curated playlists and instantly find new music by mood, genre, and popularity”.
The app can be remote controlled through Apple Watch, offers video mixing with iPhone camera integration and output for external displays (over AirPlay if wished), and works with the Reloop Beatpad, Beatpad 2, Pioneer DDJ-WeGO3 and DDJ-WeGO4, and Numark Mixdeck Quad controllers, also supporting multi-channel USB audio interfaces. It also has accessibility adaptations for visually impaired DJs.
What we think: Great app… now sort Apple Music integration
It’s amazing that all this can be squeezed into such a tiny platform as the iPhone. By porting djay Pro to the iPhone, Algoriddim now has an entry level and pro DJing option for both iPhone and iPad. We’ve lined this up for a full review as soon as we can.
However, for us the one thing Algoriddim could do to make this a game-changer is make Apple Music tracks play in the app. Algoriddim apps integrate so tightly with Apple and with iTunes (macOS) and Music (iOS), that seeing all those greyed out tracks in the Music library is a huge shame.

If the company managed to negotiate the above, Algoriddim’s djay Pro would become the go-to app for playing an iTunes/Apple Music collections, something that would greatly simplify DJing for Apple device users, and make djay Pro stand out entirely from the crowd. Here’s hoping…
