Behringer X- Touch Studio One 4 0
Gear Addict
I got X-Touch working for most knobs/buttons, but not all. About as good as I had it working for Logic Pro X.
Only thing is, I can't see anywhere to 'Learn' new settings. I've read a lot on the web about how to do it, but what I see there just doesn't come up and work in Studio One 3. Not a big issue for me. I only need panning knob, track, faders. The deeper stuff (eq knob, etc) I can live without for now.
Here's how I got it up if anyone needs a reference:
X-Touch connecting to Studio One 3
1) Turn on X-Touch holding down Channel 1's 'Select' button
2) Turn Channel 1's pan knob until 'MC' (HUI doesn't work for Studio One right now if ever)
3) Turn Channel 2's pan knob until 'USB'
4) Press 'select' to store these settings. They say to 'reboot' but I don't think that's necessary. but doesn't hurt to do it anyway.
5) Start Studio One 3, let plugin connections scroll, then you are on the main screen before choosing a project
6) At the bottom middle is a link to connecting an 'External Controller', click it
7) A popup comes, choose 'Mackie' unfolding it's folder and choose 'Controller' but not either of the other 2 options, in the left side panel
8).In the right side panel, choose 'INT' for both 'Receive From' and 'Send To'
9) Now open your project and you should see the faders adjust and the displays show your track names.

Sep 13, 2018 A side by side comparison of the X Touch One and the Faderport - Part 2. Because of my limited time with the units, to know more about the functions there are.

- Sep 08, 2018 The biggest thing that has me hesitating is the integration of the Behringer X-Touch (clone of Mackie Control Unit). I've used the X-Touch heavily in both Ableton Live 9 and Logic Pro X. The integration is excellent in both. The first thing I noticed in using the demo of Studio One is that it's not readily apparent how to control plugins.
- What is the feature difference between Studio One 3 Artist and Studio One 4 Prime? Is there a school where I can get an advanced course in Studio One 4 (with a live teacher)? Is there a way to get the behringer x-touch mini to work with studio one 3 artist in mackie control mode.
- The X-Touch 9Not Compact) boots in HUI mode by default. To change it to Mackie Control mode, hold the button under fader 1 while powering it on. First, you will need to set your Behringer X-Touch to Mackie Control mode: Hold down the Channel 1 SELECT button and then turn on the unit’s power switch to enter the X-Touch configuration menu.

| Hey everyone, very new to this sort of thing and have a few questions about using Studio One to capture live performances coming through m Behringer X Air mixer. As I understand it, I can basically capture the right and left stereo mixes in Studio One? Not, the individual mixer channels (would like to grab those as tracks, but that needs something more, right?). So far, I have been able to get Studio One to recognize the mixer- the problem I am having is when I 'create a new song' how do I get the mixer output into Studio One to record? I have tried adding tracks, but no luck. Thanks for any help you might be able to give here. I am thinking it is a simple thing, but I have so little mixing/recording experience with a DAW not sure where to go with it. |

Not, the individual mixer channels (would like to grab those as tracks, but that needs something more, right?).. At the bare minimum you'll need a 2 channel audio interface to convert the analog signals (main l and r outputs of the XAir18) into digital signals so the computer can understand it. Ideally you could get a 16 channel audio interface and grab all the tracks. | Thanks Walt. So it looks like I am shy a critical piece of equipment. I have the AudioBox iOne, but it only has a single mic input, and I wasn't able to get the mixer and it to work together anyway. What I did was hook up a mic'ed amp to the mixer, then the mixer to the AudioBox with the USB cable, but got nothing. Anyway, it is all moot since I apparently need something like this: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail .. -interface |
| The xr18 IS an audio/midi interface already. You don’t need any extra harware for your recordingsto work. The xr18 is an 18in/18out audio interface and in the companion apps you can setup the routing and record however you want into your daw of choise. You don’t mention what version of studio one you are using but the artist version can only record two tracks at a time. | Oh, okay, thanks for the further responses! I am using Studio One Artist, so I guess I have will just have the two inputs? Can those two inputs be the L/R stereo inputs out of the mixer? Not sure how to get those to appear as tracks. I don't need multiple channels necessarily, just want to get the mixed sound into S1 so I can create songs, mix them a bit post-recording, and label them. |
| In the xr18 routing menu goto ‘usb outputs’ and select for e.g. usb1 and usb2 to be MAINL & MAINR. This will give you your xr18 main stereo out into your daw. | Waves Tracks Live can record the XR18 and then you can add the wave files to S1. You can also use Audio Evolution on Android or iOS or other apps to multitrack your live session and then add to S1.
