Scratch Live 2.5 (Legacy)

Note: Serato Scratch Live has been replaced with Serato DJ.

IMPORTANT: Please read this known issue before updating to Scratch Live 2.5

Jul 13, 2013  ‎.WINNER “BEST DJ APP” DJ Mag Tech Awards 2014. Serato’s first official app for iPad is designed to complement an existing Scratch Live or Serato DJ setup. Serato Remote will connect seamlessly to your Serato laptop software and work with all supported Scratch Live and Serato DJ hardware. When you connect your hardware to your Windows computer, your operating system may secure your hardware as the default soundcard for playback and recording in Windows. If this happens, Serato software will not be able to access your hardware's soundcard and therefore will not connect.

Serato Scratch Live 2.5 comes loaded with a bunch of key features including: Support for Serato Remote, free Loopmasters sample content, plug-and-play support for Pioneer CDJ-2000nexus and MIDI Output Lighting.

Serato Scratch Live works by using control vinyl or CDs which are pressed with an audible tone. Once your CD players start playing the CD, the interface converts the signal from the control CDs into digital audio. The Serato software then processes what the DJ is doing and produces a stream. MIDI Connection Troubleshooting Guide. There are a few things you can check first which hopefully will ensure successful operation with Serato software. Often overlooked, but the first thing we recommend is testing with several different USB cables to connect your device. Also, certain USB ports on your computer can function better than others.

We've teamed up with our hardware partners to provide you with some presets for some of the coolest controllers out there.

Jan 27, 2018  I had the same problem as the opening poster. I wanted to use the Djay software for my personal listening. The Apple music app does not have a crossfade feature or the ability to match up songs like in the Dj apps. Dec 12, 2017  Previously, Djay Pro offered some automation, like the ability to sync the BPM of two songs, and Match, its song recommendation system that automatically pulls songs from Spotify that will. Yesterday I tried to make a dj set using a Spotify Premium account on my mac running Sierra and Djay Pro 1.4 by Algorriddim. Nothing to do: I can see all my playlists, but when I choose a track to download it gives me 'could not load track. Djay won't match songs on mp3.

You can also read this blog post for more information on how to use the presets.

Scratch Live 2.5 Bug Fixes

Alongside these key features Scratch Live 2.5 also includes bug fixes to continue the unparalleled level of stability and performance that Serato software is known for.

Some examples of the bug fixes are:

  • Mixtape .als recordings now work with Ableton Live 9.
  • Fixed a bug where the beatgrid lock wasn't being saved and loaded to/from the file; it was only being saved to the database.
  • The Sixty-Eight record source is now correctly loaded from preferences.
  • Fixed a bug where the CDJ-350 was sending both MIDI and HID messages which meant it could possibly fire two different Scratch Live events at the same time.
  • Fixed a bug where the DJFX deck assignments wouldn't save to preferences if going from being 'on' initially, to 'off'.

In Serato DJ, what is the difference between ABS, REL, and INT?

ABS stands for 'absolute' where the vinyl mimics real vinyl. Dropping the needle at the start of a record will cue the beginning of the track. Lift the needle and move it half way down the vinyl and you will go to mid-way through the track, just like real vinyl.

REL stands for 'relative' where the position you drop the needle on the record will cue to the relative position you are at in the track. Basically, you can drop the needle anywhere and it will start the track from the beginning, lift the needle and drop it half way down the vinyl and it will play from the same place in the song you lifted it from.

How To Connect Serato Scratch Live Windows 7

INT stands for 'internal' where all track control is performed by keyboard shortcuts or midi input. The control vinyl does nothing.

When I connect my vinyl turntables to my DS1, I hear a consistent hum. How do I fix this?

Serato

It is very important that when you connect your turntables to your DS1, you're connected correctly from your DJ mixer. Follow the following steps to correctly setup vinyl turntables with the DS1 and Serato.

How To Connect Serato Scratch Live Free

  1. Connect your vinyl turntables LEFT and RIGHTRCA's to the LEFT and RIGHTINPUTS on your DS1.
  2. From your DS1, set your PHONOCD switch to PHONO.
  3. Ground your turntables by either using your DJ mixers GND or DS1's GND.
  4. From your DJ mixer, connect the LEFT and RIGHTLINEINPUTS to your DS1's LEFT and RIGHTOUTPUTS. **Do not connect from your DJ mixers PHONOINPUTS.
  5. That's it!

Can I record directly in Serato DJ with the DS1?

No, not currently. There is no Aux Input featured inside the interface and the audio is mixed externally in a DJ mixer, not in the Serato DJ software. Because the final mix does not come through Serato or the DS1, the mix will need to be routed back into the computer before it can be recorded.

We've put together a guide to walk you through an easy method of recording your mixes using a free software called Audacity. See the guide below:
